    The lamps in a UV aging test chamber will degrade over prolonged use, and aging lamps need to be replaced promptly. So, how do you select the right lamp for the test chamber? Are there any tips for making the right choice? Today, we’ll share some useful tips for selecting UV aging test chamber lamps.

    There are two types of lamps in a UV aging test chamber, and the choice depends on the characteristics of the test sample. Here are some features of the UVA-340 lamp:

    The UVA-340 lamp emits short-wave UV light similar to that in sunlight, with a wavelength range from 365 nm down to the solar cutoff point of 295 nm.

    Features of the UVB-313 lamp:

    The UVB-313 lamp emits short-wave UV light that is even stronger than the UV radiation typically reaching the Earth’s surface.
    This type of lamp can significantly accelerate material aging but may also cause unrealistic damage to certain materials.
    It is primarily used for quality control, R&D testing, and evaluations of highly weather-resistant materials.
    Theoretically, the aging acceleration effect of the UVA-340 lamp is not as fast as that of the UVB-313 lamp. However, in terms of weather resistance testing, the UVA-340 lamp has a clear advantage over the UVB-313 lamp. So, which lamp should you choose for your UV aging test chamber? The decision ultimately depends on the customer’s specific testing requirements, such as test duration.

    Once you’ve selected the appropriate lamp for your UV aging test chamber, it’s time to replace the old lamp. Here’s how to do it:

    Remove the electrical compartment cover from the top rear of the chamber.
    Take off the UV temperature sensor panel and other relevant panels.
    Open the side doors of the chamber.
    Disconnect the lamp connectors on both ends.
    Slowly remove the lamp from the inside.
    Note: New lamps may emit a spiral or flickering light initially, but this does not affect the lamp’s spectral output.

    After removing the old lamp, install the new UV lamp using the same method. If the operator is unsure about the correct replacement procedure, a technician should handle the task. Once the new lamp is installed, the test chamber is ready for subsequent experiments.
